As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills: Comfort in and around open water with basic understanding of safety considerations Ability to comfortably navigate deep water and use watercraft like surfboards, paddleboards, and kayaks Completion of lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread water without using hands, etc.) Prior experience working with or teaching children is a plus Red Cross or WSI certification preferred but not required Must be 18 years or older At FWD, LLC, you'll gain more than just a summer job.
