Platform Engineer - Client Engineering

As a Platform Engineer within Client Engineering, you'll be a key player in a multi-disciplinary team made up of Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders. The brightest and creative minds collaborating with clients as one team and contributing to experiential working sessions and builds. The outputs of which produce pilots that lead to the deployment of enterprise-scale solutions at start-up speed. Your Role And Responsibilities As a Platform Engineer within IBM Client Engineering, you'll play a key role in delivering unique client co-creation experiences to accelerate their transformation. You'll be involved in all aspects of integrated solutions, from identifying requirements to making technical decisions that impact the business case. Your role as a Platform Engineer will be to work with cross-functional teams to realize the full potential of our hybrid cloud and AI solutions to prove business value to our clients. Here's what a typical day might look like: • Leverage contemporary hybrid cloud skills (e.g., AI, analytics, DevOps, DevSecOps, IaC, automation, security, networking, and storage) with deep industry expertise and an understanding of your clients' businesses. • Define and communicate the unique value of IBM’s technology, both technically and commercially. • Participate in client sessions that include a range of public and hybrid cloud technologies, such as Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, and Kubernetes. • Support the solutions architecture plan and be a hands-on "builder" during client-facing engagements. • Advice on solution architecture to align with platform best practices, with a focus on our clients target environment to ease transition to deployment. • Work with deployment teams to transition platform assets and information to provide seamless transitions for our client. Preferred Education Master's Degree Required Technical And Professional Expertise • Hands-on experience with a wide range of cloud and AI technologies. • Practical knowledge and experience with virtualized on-premise and cloud-based computing platforms. • Experience in building application and infrastructure deployment automation workflows. • Technical experience in a cloud-related domain such as Data/Analytics, Data Science, Security, or other cloud-native, hybrid, or public-cloud technology. • Understanding and practical application of Agile best practices. • Proficient in at least one common cloud native programming language (Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, etc.) Preferred Technical And Professional Experience • Experience in deploying and operating solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud. • Knowledge of Well-Architected Frameworks from AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud. • Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps). • Experience in a technical operations role, such as site reliability or platform engineering, in hybrid-cloud and on-premise environments.
