Senior Underwriter, Asset Based Lending

About the position The Senior Underwriter at Webster Bank plays a vital role in the Asset Based Lending Group, focusing on executing credit-related activities to support new business efforts. This Director-level position requires collaboration with business development teams to assess risks, prepare credit approval documents, and ensure compliance with the bank's policies. The role involves analyzing financial information, leading due diligence processes, and closing commercial loans, all while becoming a subject matter expert in credit policies and loan documentation. Responsibilities • Collaborate with Business Development Officers and Portfolio Managers to develop appropriate ABL loan structures that manage risk and conform to bank policies. , • Prepare detailed credit approval documents and deal screens that analyze credit issues, risks, and mitigants. , • Spread financial statements and model projections related to credit requests. , • Lead the due diligence process during credit approval, including stakeholder meetings and interpreting third-party reports. , • Coordinate the closing of commercial loans, ensuring legal documentation aligns with credit approvals and assisting in the onboarding process. , • Participate in projects aimed at improving and streamlining the credit delivery process. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; MBA preferred. , • 7-10 years of experience in ABL underwriting. , • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders under pressure and meet deadlines. , • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills with sound independent judgment. , • Superior verbal and written communication skills for clear and persuasive presentations. , • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills. , • Proficiency with MS Office; working knowledge of SageWorks and Stucky software preferred.
