Why This Role Matters

At arenaflex, the Bookkeeping & Data Analytics Analyst sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and product development. You will be the go‑to partner for cross‑functional teams, translating complex financial data into actionable insights that drive product innovation, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. This is a fully remote, full‑time position that offers a competitive hourly rate of $28 and the chance to work with a collaborative, high‑performing team that values curiosity, integrity, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross‑Team Collaboration: Partner with Specialized Accounting, Product, Engineering, Finance, Tax, and Legal teams to define, design, and implement end‑to‑end bookkeeping processes.
  • Data Extraction & Analysis: Use advanced SQL queries and Python scripts to pull, cleanse, and analyze large data sets from the Revenue Subledger and other financial sources.
  • Requirement Gathering: Elicit and document detailed bookkeeping data requirements that support automated journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline revenue recognition workflows, reduce the close cycle, and enhance the overall efficiency of the finance function.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Design and execute data quality checks, develop test cases for new product releases, and validate journal entries against regulatory standards.
  • Revenue Recognition & Reporting: Perform month‑end close activities, including GAAP revenue analysis, cost of revenue reconciliation, and preparation of audit‑ready documentation.
  • Product Integration Support: Work closely with Product and Engineering to embed revenue accounting logic into new feature rollouts, ensuring seamless financial integration.
  • Ad‑hoc Projects: Contribute to special investigations, regulatory audits, and strategic finance projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in revenue bookkeeping, data analysis, or financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP (including ASC 606) and familiarity with IFRS concepts.
  • Proficiency in SQL (complex joins, window functions, CTEs) and ability to work with large, relational data sets.
  • Experience writing Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, and validation (pandas, NumPy, or similar libraries).
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset with excellent logical and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • Effective communication skills—able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Self‑starter attitude with the ability to thrive in a remote, fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Exposure to IFRS revenue recognition standards.
  • Familiarity with data‑visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Experience with cloud‑based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
  • Understanding of ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle Financials) and journal‑entry automation.
  • Background in e‑commerce or on‑demand logistics industries.
  • Certification such as CPA, CMA, or a related finance credential.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Detail Orientation: Commitment to data integrity and meticulous documentation.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust across finance, product, and engineering teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating evolving priorities and ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Technology Curiosity: Eagerness to stay current with emerging data‑engineering tools and financial technologies.
