Remote Automotive Diagnostics Technician

Our client, a leader in automotive innovation and remote diagnostics, is seeking a skilled Automotive Diagnostics Technician to join their fully remote team. This role is perfect for an experienced technician who wants to leverage their diagnostic expertise without the need for a traditional workshop environment. You will be responsible for remotely diagnosing complex vehicle issues using advanced telematics and diagnostic software, providing expert guidance to on-site service teams, and documenting findings. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of automotive systems, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely. You will work from your home office, contributing to cutting-edge automotive repair solutions. Key Responsibilities: Perform remote diagnostic assessments of vehicle issues using proprietary software and telematics data. Analyze diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and sensor data to pinpoint root causes of malfunctions. Provide clear and concise diagnostic reports and repair recommendations to on-site technicians. Interpret vehicle schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service bulletins. Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and powertrain issues. Communicate effectively with field technicians, providing step-by-step guidance during repairs. Maintain detailed records of diagnostic procedures, findings, and resolutions in the company database. Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques. Identify trends in vehicle failures and report them to the engineering and product development teams. Assist in the development and refinement of remote diagnostic protocols and software. Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety standards. Collaborate with other remote support specialists and service advisors. Participate in virtual training sessions and knowledge-sharing forums. Provide feedback on diagnostic tool performance and suggest improvements. Contribute to building a knowledge base of common vehicle issues and their solutions. Qualifications: ASE certifications (e.g., L1, G1, A6) are highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an automotive technician, with a strong focus on diagnostics. Proficiency with various automotive diagnostic scan tools and software. Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, engine performance, and powertrain components. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret complex technical data and schematics. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting. Familiarity with telematics and remote monitoring systems is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred. Comfortable using computers and various software applications. A dedicated home office space with reliable high-speed internet.
