Job title: Elementary Bilingual Teacher (Telugu) - part-time Company: DuPage Regional Office of Education Job description: Description: Perform functions to instruct identified students ensuring each individual is provided with the knowledge, proficiencies and experiences necessary for academic and social success in the regular classroom. This is a 0.8 part-time position. Job Summary: 1. Schedule, plan and instruct students on District and state approved curriculum in self-contained classrooms and in small group settings. 2. Provide systematic instruction by teaching the lessons in English or a designated second language as is appropriate to meet student needs. 3. Interact with students by speaking fluently and precisely, modeling good language and vocabulary usage in both English and a designated second language. 4. Conduct screenings to determine student eligibility in program. Review and interpret results. 5. Set high expectations for students and hold students accountable for their academic work. 6. Construct and conduct assessments to evaluate progress. 7. Monitor and review student progress via assessments, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success and growth. Monitor own instructional effectiveness. 8. Communicate both verbally and in writing with parents and students on progress. Encourage parent involvement in monitoring student progress. 9. Collaborate with other grade level or departmental Teachers and support Teachers to plan, accommodate, implement and assess lessons and progress. 10. Consult, provide advice and in-service to staff on issues relating to Bilingual education. 11. Actively participate on various building and District teams or committees. Provide feedback and act as liaison to other building staff. 12. Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents. 13. Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum and school objectives. 14. Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth. Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies. 15. Maintain accurate and current records required by state and federal requirements. 16. Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally. 17. Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation, open houses or conferences. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with the following endorsement: K-9 Bilingual or K-12 Bilingual Candidate must be bilingual in Telugu Candidates that are flexible, team oriented, and have an understanding of best practices in English Language Learning are preferred.
